The following is an excerpt from my upcomming novel:
The ultimatum of my soul is the answer I haven't been looking for. Or rather the answer that I didn't want to find. I thought that at the end of a long journey of discovery, all of this would have turned out to have been a dream. There is no golden treasure at the end of a rainbow, only more questions. And as much as I might have tried to crack open this prism, as many times I tried to get something out of it, the only thing I kept getting was a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Rainbows and pots of gold? My ass.
Refracted light and redacted lines await the inquisitive. My journey had turned in such a short few days from a simple inquiry to a full-on inquisition. I was now the judge. I was the jury. And I was death incarnate.
In that moment, cradling the body of yet another victim of an this... faceless regimental war of fuckholes and cannon balls, I realized that I wasn't just looking for answers anymore. I wanted revenge. I wanted justice.
